Every January since 2013, HBI’s Cost & Quality Academy has been giving its members a preview of the upcoming year’s prominent trends in the healthcare industry. The annual Thesis report provided prospective topical insight and solutions to common challenges in areas such as patient care experience and delivery, population and disease management, and regulatory changes. This year, HBI is proud to present a redesigned adaptation of this publication, known as 2019 Horizons: A Look Ahead.

The refreshed report still offers a preview of the year’s upcoming members-only research and topics of interest, but in a much more streamlined, interactive way. Broken into four distinct focus areas, the roadmap-themed PDF outlines the journey we’ll help healthcare leaders take this year as we provide insights and actionable research on top priorities. The four focus areas we’ll help providers address are:

  • Responding to Consumerism in Healthcare: Patients are now, more than ever, making educated decisions on where to receive care, making it critical for organizations to improve patient loyalty.
  • Tailoring Care for Behavioral Health Patients: Meeting the full spectrum of patient needs requires healthcare organizations’ integration of traditional medical care and behavioral health. Assessing environmental safety and promoting de-escalation training will also be essential for complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Promoting a Culture of Change: To foster continuous improvement, quality leaders are involving physicians in decision-making processes and investing in resources to sustain long-term staff engagement.
  • Understanding the Value of Population Health Management: In 2019, hospitals and health systems are seeking new ideas on how to improve the health of their communities. Access intel into identifying high-cost and high-risk patients, addressing social determinants of health and health equity, and increasing access to primary care.

We are looking forward to working with our members to provide additional research in these four focus areas in the upcoming year. To download the Horizons report, fill out the form below!
